Profile: Mary
NEW: Mary has a new website - check out www.movingfeet.co.uk Name: Mary Wray Qualifications: Snowsport England qualified ski and rollerski instructor. Experience: Mary has competed in 9 'World Loppet' ski marathons across the world. She has been skiing for 12 years and has competed in numerous rollerski races in London. Was stand-in instructor in 2005 and led courses and classes in January 2006. London Region Nordic Ski Club's lead instructor. Other interests: discovering the hidden corners of southern Greece particularly the Mani area, learning Greek, Nordic walking, swimming in the Mediterranean, running, photography, wine and food. Ambitions: to become a 'World Loppet Master' in 2008 by completing 1 more ski marathon; to encourage more people to take up Nordic sports [rollerski-ing, cross-country ski-ing and Nordic walking], and to try 'Loppets' [see www.worldloppet.com] Favourite race: the German Konig Ludwig Lauf - it's easy to get to & a great Bavarian atmosphere, and the Canadian Keskinada race with its woodland trails and sweeping 'highways' just across from Ottawa. Favourite ski area: Lots! The Engadine, the Dolomites, La Feclaz. Favourite rollerski area: Richmond Park - wonderful after the gates close to cars when you share the Park with cyclists, runners, deer, foxes and owls. What does she do: in 2007 participate in our London rollerski instruction programme and co-lead cross country ski holidays in Versciaco and Dobbiaco for us and Waymark. Mary is also a qualified Nordic Walking Instructor - contact her directly to arrange a nordic walking lesson.
