Profile: Laura
Name: Laura Long Qualifications: Snowsport England qualified rollerski instructor. Experience: Laura first put on a pair of rollerskis in March 2005. But don't let that fool you - 12 months later, and after only 10 days on snow she took part in the Engadin Skimarathon completing it in a good time, despite Arctic conditions. Because she has learnt to rollerski only recently, the challenges of picking up the technique are fresh in her mind, making her a very useful beginners' instructor. She now has extremely good skating and classic technique. Other interests: Laura is one of the UK's leading knitwear designers, and has appeared in Vogue and the Daily Telegraph. Her designs are on sale in department stores the world over. You can see her creations on her own website Ambitions: to compete in the British Champs 2007 in Ruhpolding, along with her 'Team 15' friends Catherine and Helen. Favourite race: apart from a few fun races in Sjusjoen in January 2006, the only race she has done on snow is the Engadin Skimarathon. She has also competed in a few rollerski races in London and Durham. Favourite ski area: Engadine Valley, Switzerland and Lillehammer, Norway. Favourite rollerski area: Richmond Park and Hampstead Heath. What does she do: rollerski sessions for beginners.
