ON SNOW

NORDIC SKILLS, COACHING AWARDS

& MULTI ACTIVITY WEEK

Kvitåvatn, Norway

7 – 14 April 2007

This will be the seventh year Snowsport England has held its highly successful ‘On-Snow’ course at Kvitåvatn.  Based on the welcoming Fjellstoge, it attracts an enthusiastic body of cross-country and freeheel downhill skiers of all levels to share in a truly varied skiing experience.  Under the leadership of Senior Coaches Patrick Winterton and Andy Stewart, this course has rapidly gained a reputation for the high quality of its coaching.

Who is the course for?

  • Cross-country skiers who wish to improve their skills, whether their interests are in touring, racing or freeheel downhill.
  • Alpine skiers who wish to improve their downhill skills by converting to freeheel downhill/ telemark skiing.
  • Members of the Snowsport England Coaching Scheme who wish to take or revalidate an award.

What will we be doing?

  • Skills training.  The XC groups will concentrate on classic and skating techniques on the local tracks.  The freeheel downhill groups will practise techniques leading up to and including telemark turns, on the piste.
  • Snow related activities.  Past activities have included: ski orienteering, snow holing, crevasse rescue, fun races and games and this year we plan more ski touring.  Some evenings there will be a talk, slide show or quiz arranged.
  • Assessment for Snowsport England Proficiency Awards will be available for those who wish.
  • Snowsport England Coaching personnel will be able to take or revalidate an award.

If you are interested, please contact the organiser for details of costs, accommodation and travel.
