London 4-hr rollerski race

A large field of skiers came together on Saturday for the penultimate event of the UK rollerski race calendar.

Although not a serious race, the event provides an opportunity for skiers of all standards to complete as many laps as possible over 4 hours. The London Region Nordic Ski Club runs the event and each year attempts to record a higher 'group total' of kilometers skied. This year the 32 skiers involved clocked up 926 laps, or just under 1,500km.

Top honours went to Ivan Gorbenko and Rob Dorward who completed 65 laps (108km) each, with top female skiers Irene Chawko and Barbara Baker completing 49 and 47 laps respectively.

The next, and final, race of the season is the Wessex Sprints in Castle Combe on Sunday 26th October, see http://www.biathlonsport.com/pages/Wessex.htm
