Engadin ski marathon

The popularity of the Engadin ski marathon seems to grow every year. In 2005 it had over 10,000 entrants, among whom over 100 were from the UK.

More and more Brits are discovering that skiing a marathon on snow is something a great thing to do. Ski marathons are quite a demanding workout, with some experience of cross-country skiing and endurance training required. However, they're a lot less physically destructive than running, as although you push your whole body to its limits, it's a low impact activity, which is less likely to leave your joints aching afterwards.

We reckon the best way to train for such a race (if you're not on snow for the months before it) is to roller ski.

With only a week on skating skis on snow, Dom Luck and Amanda Cox, who'd been practising in the couple of months before on roller skis, completed the Engadin ski marathon in 3.5 and 4.5 hours respectively. Not bad for first time ski marathon-ers.

This autumn and winter, we're encouraging newcomers to the sport to do the Engadin ski marathon, in connection with the childrens charity, WellChild. We'll help you prepare beforehand on rollerskis to ensure you hit the snow ready and have a great race!

WellChild have organised very successful and enjoyable trips to the Engadin in the past and organises a package which includes accommodation, transport and instruction on snow. All you've got to do is raise some cash for what is a very worthwhile cause.

We can help you prepare on rollerskis, and on snow with our trip to Norway over the New Year. Please have a look at the rest of this site, and contact us if you think we can help.
