Name: Mantas Strolia

In his own words -

"For the last eight years I represented Lithuania in cross-country skiing. I was not the top in the world, but I was the best in my country. My best place in the world ranking of xc-skiers was 138. My FIS Code is 3780010. Also, I have a huge experience of participating in international competition like World Cups, World Ski Championships and Olympic Winter Games.  The best performances I had were :

  • 18 place in Olympic Winter Games in Canada, team sprint in 22.02.10   
  • 46 place in Olympic Winter Games in Canada, individual sprint in 17.02.10
  • 33 place in World Cup in Canada, individual sprint in 06.02.10
  • 18 place in World U-23 Ski Championships in France, individual sprint in 01.02.09
What is more, in the last six years I have finished my MSc degree studies in university. So I am a master of physical education. Also, I published two scientific articles and presented them in sport science conferences in the Baltic countries:

“Specific Features of Lithuanian Ski Sprinters’ Training and their Fitness during The Preparatory Period.”

“Characteristics of Lithuanian Cross-Country Skier’s Sprinters Training during yearly Pre-Olympic Training Cycle and their Fitness."

Additionally, in the last six years I have been working for "National Skiing Association of Lithuania", where I was responsible for hotels and apartments booking, financial allocation, deciding which competitions my team should compete in, representing Lithuania in meetings before competitions as team leader, also I was helping to drive the car and wax skis. Because of that, I gained experience in international management and learned to speak in English and Russian. 

Unfortunately, because of financial situation in Lithuania I was forced to finish my professional athlete career. I love winter sports, so am looking for the way how can I be the part of FIS family. Now I am living in London."

  
   

 

Mantas has now been qualified as a Level 2 Snowsport England instructor and has become one of our main club coaches. It's great to have someone with such experience of high level competition, and with such enthusiasm for the sport.

Mantas also works as trainer and receptionist at a hotel gym in Central London.
