We're aiming to make the day a lot of fun. Rollerski racing is an exciting and energy-packed sport, and the day aims to get your racing season off to a good start. It doesn't matter if you are a racing novice or gnarly veteran, the skills and exercises will be useful to all. The day will start with exercises and games to get warmed up, initially on training rollerskis. The majority time will be spent on skating technique, but we'll do a bit of classic to practice pursuit racing 'pit-stops', where you change skis from classic to skating.

We've booked the Redbridge Circuit for the whole day, and will share it only with other rollerskiers (those doing the beginners' course, Team Dorney & Redbridge and club skiers training). This is one of the best circuits in the country, with beautiful flat tarmac and a good range of terrains - gentle flat sections, as well as tougher hills.

There will also be the chance to take part in a couple of short practice races to put skills into practice, and plenty of opportunities to pick the brains of Baptiste, Eugenio and the rest of our team. You will also get the chance to try the latest fast racing rollerskis. Sandwiches and snacks will be provided.

The day will cover the following -

  • Racing technique;
  • Warming up, pre-race preparation;
  • Starts;
  • Pursuit races, changing skis;
  • Dry land exercises;
  • Intro to fast rollerskis;
  • Overtaking;
  • Slip-streaming;
  • Sprints;
  • Coping with fame;
  • Equipment tips.
